The project aims to explore the ceremonial traditions within Western culture surrounding life and death, to suggest a spiritually connective alternative as the rate of religion within society reduces. A symptom of a culture emphasising rapid pace in life has resulted in a neglect of the acceptance and understanding of death, resulting in a short grieving process negatively impacting on well-being. The project surveys ritual and memorial within the rural setting of Bothal village, to develop principles of life beyond death applied within a Crematorium setting. Subsequently formulating a typology and process which continually connects the living to the memories of their deceased, achieved through use of BioUrns, planting ashes in a surrounding memorial garden bringing forth life from death.
