The Mitford Castle Cemetery proposal is designed to function as the extension of the existing Mitford Cemetery. The proposal aims to root the cemetery within the local context, where it can meet the needs that arise from the growing popularity of Cremation, an emerging trend for celebrating life instead of grieving the loss and profane character of funerals. Apart from the Funeral House the proposal consists of a Ceremony Building, Columbarium and Dining Building. The proposal features a reflective facade which blends with the environment whilst maintaining privacy during the mourners celebration of life.
